EXAMPLE
Here is a good example of a Fused Portrait.
I photographed this little girl. Then I photographed her kindergarted handprint, her finger paintng and her favorite Shell Silverstein poem.
I then integrated these cherished items into her portrait. This is what I call Fused Portraiture.
The Listening Center, Johns Hopkins Hospital
Client: Dr. Niparko, Johns Hopkins Listening Center
I collaborated with Dr. Niparko to create two 8ft. canvas panels of artwork representing the Cochlear Ear Clinic, The Listening Center at Johns Hopkins Hospital. The Listening Center provides Cochlear Implants that allow people to hear, many for the first time!
I thought of what I would miss if I couldn't hear and visually integrated those images into the artwork; birds, sheet music, sound waves. I also created patterns with microscopic images inner ear imagery the Dr. Niparko provided..
The Charleston Peninsula Art Map
As the photographer of the book "The Charleston Gardener", I explored and photographed many of the private gardens of South of Broad in Charleston, South Carolina.
I then used these photographs to create a palate of local colors and textures for this Charleston Art Map. The integrated imagery of Charleston's cobblestone streets, her weathered walls, the marshes and palms creates a unique work of art that feels familiar to the people of Charleston.
